Abstract

Background: Gastritis is an inflammation of the gastric mucosa that commonly causes abdominal or epigastric pain, which may interfere with patient comfort, daily activities, and quality of life. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be used to help reduce pain in patients with gastritis is Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR). Objective: To describe the implementation of Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) through Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) in reducing abdominal pain among patients with gastritis. Methods: This scientific paper employed a case study method using the nursing process approach, including assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The EBN intervention applied was Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), which was performed regularly to help reduce pain intensity in patients with gastritis. Results: Following the implementation of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), the patient experienced a reduction in abdominal pain intensity, decreased muscle tension, increased relaxation, and improved comfort and rest quality. These findings are consistent with previous studies demonstrating the effectiveness of PMR in reducing pain among patients with gastritis. Conclusion: Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) is an evidence-based, safe, effective, and easy-to-implement non-pharmacological nursing intervention that can help reduce abdominal pain and improve comfort in patients with gastritis
